BallotClick
Electronic Voting for Mobile Devices
The BallotClick mobile app (for iOS or Android) provides electronic voting in any meeting. Internet connection through a data plan is required (most meeting facilities do not have Wi-Fi capacity to handle a large number of voters). It can also be used for electronic meetings, such as voting from home.
The app provides:
- Simple interface – no training required (some training for the person running the meeting)
- Allows for majority, plurality, multiple votes per voter, and preference ballots
- Allows write-in votes for elections
- Simple on-the-fly creation of ballots, right on the app – or create in advance
- All voters can see the vote results on their device when released by the chair
- Verification feature where anyone in the meeting can see how the vote is tallied while preserving the secret ballot
- Save or reuse ballots to save setup effort
- Anonymous and secured communications with the vote server
- Setup on AWS scalable servers to provide fast service under any load
Voting Security
Each user is given a unique 10-digit number which is used to log in. This prevents unauthorized votes. This authorization code is random and not tied to the voter in any identifiable way, which provides for privacy and security.
There is also an option to require users to enter a Meeting Code for each vote, to ensure that only those present in an electronic meeting are able to vote.
Voters With No Mobile Device
Voters can share mobile devices – one vote and logs out and hand the device to a friend, who enters the authorization code votes, and logs out. Using this same process there can be “voting stations” where voters can go to cast their ballot on a device provided for that purpose.
While not recommended, you can combine electronic voting with a small number of paper ballots, if needed.
